Capture a song
- Open a supported radio website and start its player.
- Click the Song Archaeology toolbar icon to open the Chrome side panel.
- Review or correct the detected song, artist and station.
- Optionally press Unearth this song for sourced research.
- Choose a playlist and save.
Built-in support covers RTL, RTL2, Fun Radio and Radio Jackie. Compatible stations can also work automatically through browser Media Session or standard player metadata.
Your radio is not detected?
The side panel will say Radio not supported yet and offer a Notify developer button. It opens a pre-addressed email draft with the page address so we can add a compatible adapter; nothing is sent until you choose to send it.
Choose a playlist strategy
Use manual mode to choose a playlist for every capture. Turn on radio routing to have the extension create and reuse one playlist per station. Both are only views over the same master library.
Export without losing information
JSON is the exact restorable backup. CSV retains nested research in dedicated JSON columns. HTML is a readable archive with the full data snapshot embedded inside it. Switching export formats never changes the master library.
Connect Notion
The installation access token comes from your own Notion workspace. Song Archaeology never supplies one.
- In Notion, go to Settings → Connections.
- Turn on Developer Mode and open Personal access tokens.
- Create a connection named Song Archaeology with read and insert content capabilities.
- Use the connection’s ••• menu to copy its installation access token.
- Create or open a parent page, then use ••• → Add connections to share it with the connection.
- Paste the parent-page URL and token into the extension’s Notion settings. Choose a vault passphrase and test.
- Create or map a Notion page for each playlist you want to sync.
The encrypted token is stored locally. The passphrase is not stored; the clear token is forgotten when Chrome closes.
Troubleshooting Notion
“Page not found”
Share the parent or playlist page with the same Notion connection using the page’s Add connections menu.
“Restricted resource” or 403
Check that the connection has read content and insert content capabilities.
Sync waits after a restart
Open the extension settings and unlock the token vault. The local capture remains safe while Notion is locked.
Manage the collection
Open the extension library to edit a song, move it to another playlist, add private notes, archive and restore it, or remove it permanently after confirmation. Local changes do not alter a copy already synced to Notion.
